System Installed 12 x Jinko Tiger 420 Watt all black panels, Solis 3.6kW, Hybrid inverter, 2 x Pylon 4.8kWh batteries

Investment This investment cost around £11,500 and we think that the value of the house has been increased by £5,000, with this in mind and the current trajectory of household usage since having the system installed we feel that it will take between 5 and 6 years to break even.

Household usage

Installation The installation took just 3 day which was far quicker than I expected it to take and it was the most horrible weather for the guys to work in. The installation was clean, tidy, efficient, the wiring was left open as I wanted to box it in wood myself to fit the character of the house. I left the housekeys with the MW Solar team whilst they worked and was at work myself.

Lifestyle changes We are now more conscious of what we use and when we use electrical items. We no longer use the oven, hob and tumble dryer at the same time for example, as this will use power from the grid as well as the batteries/solar.

Solar Generated & stored A full charge from 10% costs 85p now as opposed to the average £4’s worth of electricity per day we were using before the installation. In the summer we had great results with lots going free to the grid, on prolonged dull days like we have had during recently for instance, I have had to charge the batteries overnight.

SEG I am on Octopus Go at 9.5p per kW. if I was getting paid at 15p per kWh I would have had received £222 from Octopus on the SEG rate since May 10th until October 19th 2023 (The time we have had the installation) So far I have used and paid £100.27 from the grid, if I had been being paid to export since the system was installed technically Octopus would owe me money.

Summary It is definitely beneficial as last months electricity bill including our standing charge was £26.

The reason I went with Mark was the positive verbal reviews I had from my own customers that I see in my own trade. Faultless from start to finish.

Mark

These are the solar generation results compared with what’s been imported from the grid In the first five months of the system…

I boxed in the wiring at the top of the stairs as I had the wires dropped from the attic down rather than from the outside in.

I asked for the wiring not to be boxed in as I wanted to box in wood rather than plastic. I had where the inverter and batteries were sited boxed in which is under the stairs just to keep this area of the house in character.
